When I first heard about Harry Potter, I was managing a bookstore in Colorado. I refused to read anything on the best sellers list and thought that Potter was just another "fast food" type of book. Great that kids were reading, but was it worthwhile lit-chra-chur?
Then I read the 1st one. I dreamed about it and knew that it had touched me. I was hooked.
As I read the final page of the last novel, I felt like I was saying good bye to some very close friends. Like it was graduation day after 13 years of being together and I wouldn't see any of them again. I was alone. I was going to miss seeing how the rest of their lives turned out and I felt...grief.
Tremendous books.
